How Are Essential Oils Used?

Essential oils are commonly inhaled to create a calming effect or a certain mood at home or in this office.  They are commonly inhaled using a diffuser like the one shown in the picture above. They are also inhaled  by using steam or mixing a carrier oil and spraying it into the air to create a mood or to freshen a room.

What is a Carrier Oil?

Essential oils are also applied to the skin and absorbed into the bloodstream.  When essential oils are applied directly to the skin, they can cause irritation.  To dilute the oils and ensure that irritation doesn't occur, a carrier oil is added.  A carrier oil is a vegatble oil that is used to dilute essential oils. When using essential oils on the skin, please make sure to use a carrier oil.  Following a recipe to make sure you're using the right proportions.

Some Common Essentials Oils for Skin Care

Here are a few essential oils that are good for the skin. The two oils that come to mind quickly are rose oil and geranium oil.  Some other oils for the skin, include frankincense, and lavender oil.  Geranium oil relieves both oily and dry skin and skin that's congested.  It also helps with eczema and dermatitis.   In addition it helps to balance your hormones and reduces wrinkles. Rose oil also helps with inflamed skin.
